After the bridge

Look at the bridge videos. They're probably on page 2 now (please click "older posts" at the bottom of the page). We posted a lot yesterday, but they're worth seeing. Here is a video after the bridge. Daniel's hair is even wilder than usual.

Wilson Creek Trail- Blue Ridge Parkway

We went on a tiny hike off the Blue Ridge Parkway, part of the way to Wilson Creek. The path got a little too rocky for me to feel safe carrying Daniel, so we turned around.

More Father's Day pictures

For some reason, I can only upload four pictures at a time from Picasa. I will try to figure out what is going on. Until then, I'll have to break everything down into smaller groups.

Happy Father's Day, Dada!

Daniel has the best Dada in the world! We spent some time at the park making some pictures for a Father's Day surprise photo album for Dada. Then, he surprised us by coming home a little early and meeting us at the park.

St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Blowing Rock, NC

Jan Karon's Mitford series' books are set in Mitford, which is based on the town of Blowing Rock, NC. Father Tim's church is based on this Episcopal church. This little town was so lush and green. We got there during a heavy rainstorm, but soon the sun came out. We found the church and right down the street was a park. Daniel played in the baby swing, and we listened to some live music at the park's pavilion.

Grandfather Mountain-Father's Day Trip

We crossed the bridge!

Here we are on the other side of the bridge.

Grandfather mountain -- 60+ mph winds!

Enjoy this video of us braving Grandfather mountain near Boone, North Carolina. The wind gusts were over 60 mph. If they had hit 65, they would have closed the suspension bridge. Great fun!

First Hair Cut June 15, 2009

Well, we finally cut his gorgeous hair. I've been putting it in a front ponytail for quite awhile, maybe months, so that he could see. I haven't minded a bit when strangers in public said, "What a beautiful little girl!" or when people at church and friends encouraged me to cut it. However, in the last few days his "second bangs"- those little wisps of hair that won't fit in the ponytail- have grown down into his face. So, even WITH the front ponytail he can't see. This morning after breakfast we wet his hair, and Joseph distracted him with combs while I cut three times in the front. I haven't measured it, but I think the locks are about 3 inches long. He looks so precious, even more like Joseph, if that's possible.
We made a video, so hopefully Joseph will get it up soon. P.S. The blotches on his face are bug bites- they are much better than they were yesterday. I put bug stuff all over him, except for his face. I'll know next time...

Museum of Life and Science

We went to the Museum of Life and Science with our friends on Friday. Daniel really loves it there. His favorite place is the drum pavilion. My favorite place is the toddler room because it is air conditioned, small enough that I can sit down and see him everywhere, and filled with appropriate toys. He can wander through there by himself, and he hasn't figured out how to open the door (yet). Right now, the museum is one of our favorite places. I am slowly getting up the courage to put him in the sand box.
